One of the main reasons people come to our wellness clinic for chiropractic care is because their back hurts. Tons of Canadians suffer from back pain, and it’s a normal problem among people who don’t sleep well or who spend a lot of time hunched over a desk working day in and day out.
Although chiropractic care can certainly help with your back pain, improving your posture can also help you reduce the pain in your back.
- When you’re sitting down, (especially if you have a desk job), always sit up with your back straight and shoulders back. Keep your weight distributed evenly between both hips and keep your feet flat on the floor.
- When you sit, try to avoid sitting for more than 30 minutes at a time. Once a 30-minute stint is up, get up and do a quick walk around the room.
- Make sure you can sit up close to your desk and tilt your computer screen up towards you. Keep your shoulders relaxed and rest your arms and elbows either on your chair or the front of your desk.
- When you get up from sitting, scoot to the front of the chair. Straighten your legs and avoid bending at the waist.
We hope these tips help your back start to feel better. Combined with chiropractic care at our wellness clinic, you may notice a difference in your back pain within a short while.
