At our chiropractic office, one of the most common ailments we see patients about is back problems. If you have a sore back and nothing you try seems to provide relief, you are not alone.
While chiropractic care can help with your sore back, there are other things you can do on your own to find some relief. Here are some of our top recommendations:
- Instead of trying to sleep on your back or on your stomach, try sleeping on your side. When you lie down, put a pillow between your knees to keep your spine in a neutral position and to limit any strain from being put on your back.
- You’ve probably heard this one before, but slouching can make your sore back worse. When you sit and when you stand, practice good posture by drawing your shoulders back and straightening your spine.
- When you have a sore back, you may think that staying sedentary is the way to reduce the pain. However, don’t rest completely for more than a day or two, and try to engage in light exercise as soon as possible.
- When you wake up in the morning, take a few minutes to stretch out your back muscles. Do this same routine before you get in bed and go to sleep for the night.
